Do Your Habits Support Your Fitness and Weight Loss Goals?



Do you want to keep your weight at a healthy level? To maintain weight loss, either surgery, caloric restriction or exercise a lifestyle that promotes weight maintenance should be adopted. It is important that you work to break old habits and create new positive destructive. This can help you achieve your goals and maintain weight loss long term. Here are four tips to help you adopt new behaviors so that they become lifelong habits. 


1. Create a written agreement between you and someone who is supportive of your goals, such as a spouse or personal trainer contract. Be specific about behaviors, commitments and attitudes expected of you and the other person assisting in the creation of the agreement. Both must sign the agreement, display somewhere prominent, and review the objectives and situations change. 

2.Create a behavior contract that the goals you want to accomplish and non-food reward for achieving each objective. Plan to complete the objectives within a specified period. Develop action-oriented like "I'm going to the gym twice a week for 45 minutes" or "I want to lose weight and tone." Objectives Periodically update the contract that meets your goals. 

3. Create an environment conducive to your fitness and weight loss goals. For example, if junk food is your weakness then delete them from your home. Another example is the implementation of an alarm to remind you to go to the gym. Using benchmarks of this type will help you stay on track. 

4. If you have to weigh the pros and cons of changing a habit and create a record of the decision. This worksheet allows you to review the benefits and barriers to change behavior and develop strategies to initiate change or around obstacles that prevent you from doing so. Take a piece of paper and divide it into four sections. Label each section, respectively: benefits, barriers / obstacles, strategies to maximize the benefits and strategies to reduce barriers. It is used to help develop a plan for fitness and weight loss. 

So, to lose weight successfully over the long term, it is important to change your old habits that keep you healthy, and adopt new ones that will make it healthier and happier. These strategies, when applied, are effective in helping to adopt new behaviors. Adopting new habits is a process, but eventually, your body will thank you and you will have a healthy body to prove it!
